Study on the effect of maternal administration of oxaliplatin on offspring testes using unbiased design-based stereology

Oxaliplatin (Ox) is widely used for the treatment of various tumors. Since Ox prevents DNA replication and transcription, it may affect organs with rapid cell divisions such as testes. Although its use during pregnancy has been reported, no information regarding effects on testes offspring not available yet. Thirty-two mice were randomly divided into four groups. The control group (1) was administered intraperitoneally 0.2 ml saline three times a week 21 days pre-pregnancy, lactation. Experimental groups 2, 3 4 received mg/kg oxaliplatin lactation, respectively. left testis removed from male 30 60 after birth. volume testes, seminiferous tubules interstitial tissue, surface area height epithelium, well length diameter tubules, analyzed by means stereology. Results showed decrease in evaluated parameters experimental groups, comparison group. Due to ameliorating effect cautiousness needed maternal administration order preserve fertility offspring.
